Le Vieux Cimetière

Beneath its weathered stones, the Old Cemetery holds more than just the dead: forgotten pacts, broken oaths, and unresolved debts. Since the Maelström, the boundary between the living and what comes after them has never been so porous.

Some ghosts still wander there, seeking a form of redress that no living person would ever think to grant them. Others were buried there with whatever was needed to prevent them from returning—a precaution that does not always hold.

It is a threshold—a place where people sometimes come to do what daylight forbids: to invoke, to negotiate, or simply to listen to what the dead still have to say.
